Sherman P. Romney joined the firm as an associate in 2024. He was in private practice for over 26 years in the Yampa Valley serving clients in many areas including bankruptcy, business law, wills and trusts, probate and estate administration, real estate including sales transactions, development, land use and landlord law. He is available to represent municipalities and other local government entities, having previously served three years as a part-time Municipal Court Judge and later for two stints totalling fifteen years as City Attorney for the City of Craig..


Sherman has healthcare experience and can represent hospitals, medical clinics and other healthcare facility clients in governance, regulatory compliance, acquisitions and medical staffing matters. As a certified medical staff professional, Sherman accepts as clients physicians and other providers in complex credentialing matters involving privileges and state licensing issues.


Born in Utah but raised in British Columbia, Canada, Sherman enjoyed playing and now following sports including hockey, rugby and competitive volleyball. He speaks Spanish fluently after a two-year church mission experience. In 1988, he married Lori Van Horn from Alaska and they worked their way through undergraduate years at the University of Utah (BA, Economics, 1989) and law school at the University of Colorado (JD, 1992), followed by many years together living the small-town lifestyle on the Western Slope of Colorado.


In addition to his law practice, they operated several businesses including a retail gift and floral shop, a farming operation and a food trailer business. Now Sherman and Lori spend their off-time on land and water enjoying their three grown children and their families in Colorado and Utah.
